ADVA Optical Networking Gets TMC's NFV Product of the Year Award

By Frank Griffin January 24, 2017

Communication Service Providers (CSPs) are looking to network functions virtualization (NFV) to better compete with OTTs and other nontraditional CSPs. With NFV, they want to be able to introduce products to market much faster with the same agility as the new crop of communications companies while reducing their capital and operational expenditures. This is a lot to ask for from a single technology, but a more efficient network can deliver on the promise of transforming how communications services are developed and managed. This of course has introduced a number of players in the NFV segment, and TMC, a global, integrated media company helping clients build communities in print, in person and online, has given ADVA Optical Networking's Ensemble Connector its 2016 NFV Product of the Year Award to recognize the efforts it is making in the industry.

In highlighting the importance of NFV in today's highly connected digital ecosystem and the CSPs that provide the services, Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC, said, “NFV promises to deliver new levels of flexibility, efficiency and agility to service providers. It enables them to react more rapidly to market trends, more effectively meet user demands, and more efficiently deliver new services and applications that will drive new revenue streams.”

ADVA Optical Networking empowers global networks by developing breakthrough hardware and software so they can create new business opportunities to deliver cloud and mobile services with greater efficiency. The Ensemble Connector platform recognized by TMC is the industry's only open, software-based hosting platform for virtual network functions (VNFs). This allows CSPs to deploy best in class software for VNFs without being locked in to long term contracts and the limitations of propriety vendor technologies.

“Winning this award for Ensemble Connector is a real honor. It highlights the creativity, focus and tremendous drive of everyone in our virtualization solutions division. What's more, it underlines how much our open, software-based NFV strategy continues to resonate with the industry,” said Prayson Pate, CTO, Ensemble Division, ADVA Optical Networking.

With Ensemble Connector, CSPs are no longer tied to a specific vendor because the technology is developed with a commercial off-the-shelf platform and multiple deployment options and an unprecedented level of control. It lets CSPs leverage today's latest technologies, including virtualization, automation and orchestration, so they can create new generation communication solutions.

Tehrani added, “With its high-performance virtualization platform, ADVA Optical Networking has demonstrated innovation in this rapidly evolving industry. It is our pleasure to honor the ADVA Ensemble Division for their inspiring work. Recognizing leaders advancing NFV, TMC is proud to announce ADVA Optical Networking as a recipient of the 2016 NFV Product of the Year Award.”
