Vendors in information and communication and technologies (ICT) have embraced cloud computing, which has resulted in the delivery of more services with cloud capabilities. For Sonus Networks, a global provider of secure and intelligent cloud communications, the improvement of its PSX and EMS platforms with cloud optimization will make these solutions ready for real-world cloud deployments.
Sonus provides mission critical traffic for VoIP, video, IM and online collaboration with next generation cloud-based SIP and 4G/VoLTE solutions. As enterprises and service providers look to increase their cloud presence, securing their communications in this environment is critical. The cloud-optimization of its EMS, PSX and SBC solutions will make it possible for service providers to leverage the tested Sonus NFV Orchestration Partner environment to instantiate virtual policy and routing control as well as virtual session management.
Kevin Riley, Sonus CTO and SVP of Engineering and Operations, said, “Sonus focuses on addressing the practical realities of deploying Cloud-optimized products. We architected a robust solution that runs seamlessly in the Cloud and delivers scale, reliability and feature capability on par with our hardware-based offers. Unlike our competitors, Sonus provides customers with a complete, real-world solution, making real-time communications in the Cloud a reality.”
As more organizations migrate real-time communications to the cloud, they need an architecture that allows them to have independent orchestration and scaling of each SBC microservice based on network traffic. Sonus has overcome this challenge by separating the signaling, media processing and transcoding microservices into individual components. This has allowed its microservices architecture to have the redundancy it needs to deliver high availability of the three services.
The new improvements also deliver advanced monitoring and troubleshooting capabilities, automatic on-demand VNF management and optimizations of resource utilization at the microservices level. The integrated analytics improves solutions management with an embedded data agent in each VNF instance. It can communicate traffic and utilization information to an integrated data warehouse and analytics solution.
This type of cloud capability from Sonus gives organizations a secure platform that delivers an elastic policy control with high availability, automated scaling, session management, and innovative load balancing. They can now better understand the scaling and flexibility benefits cloud provides for their communications and other IT services.
