EXFO Partners With NEC/Netcracker to Expand NFV Ecosystems Integration

By Frank Griffin October 11, 2016

Communications service providers (CSPs) are pursuing virtualization to implement full-scale network functions virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networks (SDN) to address the incredible growth in data traffic. As consumers and organizations demand faster and real-time services, CSP's will continue to face increased pressure to deliver with existing infrastructure. The new partnership between EXFO Inc. and NEC/Netcracker SDN/NFV Solutions will give CSPs an end to end automated and integrated solution to improve the migration to NFV/SDN.

If CSP's don't have the right technology in place, it becomes that much harder for their clients to introduce new products and service to market and ensure the solutions they provide are able to deliver best in class quality of experience (QoE), while at the same time offering service level agreements (SLAs) that will attract new customers.

As a company that provides CSPs with test orchestration and 3D analytics solutions to ensure the smooth deployment, maintenance and management of next-generation, physical, virtual, fixed and mobile networks, EXFO needs a technology that will continue to simplify the digital transformation services it offers. With NEC/Netcracker SDN/NFV, the company is going to incorporate the pre-integrated solutions into its NFV ecosystem for demonstrating joint use cases so CSP's can introduce new generation services to market much faster.

“We are committed to giving our customers complete confidence that the promises of NFV will be delivered. By innovating our virtualized service assurance solution to fully integrate with the NFV solutions from industry-leading SDN/NFV players like NEC/Netcracker, EXFO makes it possible for service providers to build and operate smarter networks, today and tomorrow,” said Claudio Mazzuca , EXFO's Vice-President of Systems and Services.

The NEC/Netcracker NaaS (Network as a Service) platform lets CSPs leverage cloud and virtualized technologies so they can start delivering value added services by providing the technology to better manage and control how business services are delivered and consumed. According to NEC/Netcracker, it can be applied to different types of deployments including residential, so CSPs can deliver new and innovative services to end users.

This will give service providers new revenue opportunities and improve the long-term relationship with their customers by increasing the quality of experience with more options, including on-demand services without any of the risks of launching virtualization initiatives at scale.

“Service providers need to know that NFV and SDN will enable them to deliver new innovative services quickly and efficiently. Our Agile Virtualization Platform and Practice (AVP), combined with our partner ecosystem that is constantly expanding through the pre-integration of solutions from companies like EXFO, ensures that our customers have access to the tools and solutions they need in order to open new revenue streams faster and optimize operational efficiency,” said Rahul Chandra, Vice President of NFV/Netcracker's Worldwide SDN/NFV Business Development.

As part of this partnership, EXFO will have the technology to give CSPs the tools they need to capture a larger share of business and residential markets, generate more revenue and transfer the customer engagement model, all while taking the risk out of virtualization.
