Dorado Software to Demonstrate Redcell MANO Lifecycle Management

By Michael Guta August 17, 2016

Each year the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) brings together the leading organizations in the public and private sector in ICT so they can showcase the latest development in their respective fields. Dorado Software, a company that specializes in delivering resource, performance management and service orchestration solutions for communication service providers (CSPs), is demonstrating its Redcell MANO Lifecycle Management solution at IDF16.

The Redcell MANO is an integrated suite for service orchestration; no-touch, hybrid service activation; and closed-loop service automation, which gives CSP's a solution they can leverage to experience the full benefits of network function virtualization (NFV). It also gives Virtual Network Function (VNF) providers features so they can highlight their virtual functions for early adoption with a proven carrier-grade, network-function management solution.

According to the company, it will be collaborating with Sonus and its Cloud-optimized Session Border Controller Software edition (SBC SWe) with Redcell MANO to demonstrate how CSP's can centrally manage, activate and orchestrate a virtualized SBC through the Redcell portfolio. Other leading VNF management solution providers will also be part of the demonstration, including Brocade, Cisco, F5 and Juniper Networks.

“Having completed support of the key VNF Lifecycle processes, such as instantiation and automated scaling, we are now jointly exploring other industry challenges such as dynamic license management,” Chris Simon, Vice President, CTO NFV.

Dorado Software is a member of the ETSI NVF ISG, and its Redcell NFV program conforms to the current guidance being produced by the ETSI NFV working groups. This allows the delivery of NFV benefits right away without costly integration systems because OpenStack allows immediate management of NVF and SDN innovation. This gives Redcell the same capabilities to discover, configure and monitor VNF as with traditional network resources.

The Redcell orchestration gives CSPs all aspects of their commercial service management so they can address the challenges of the evolving nature of the supporting infrastructure and customer demands for integration with existing systems and organizations. The key features of the orchestration process include: integration with BSS/OSS and RESTful Interface; managing NFVI and VNF; physical and virtual service chaining management; and automated closed-loop processes with E2E monitoring, event processing and automated actions.

It is extremely important for service providers to manage their converged infrastructures more effectively in order to accelerate the time to market of the products and services they offer in their virtualized, cloud-based networks. Being able to optimize, automate and orchestrate legacy systems in virtual environments, including virtual SBCs, makes it possible to deploy new generation services with scale and efficiency. Dorado Software and Sonus have demonstrated this can be achieved, which should be great news for CSPs around the world.
