Broadvoice Taps Metaswitch to Support PBX, UC Services

By Paula Bernier March 16, 2016

Broadvoice is using the Metaswitch Networks clustered MetaSphere Multiservice Telephony Application Server and Service Assurance Server to support its business cloud PBX and unified communications offerings, the companies announced today.

The Metaswitch solutions are virtualized, and the vendor’s Senior Vice President of Engineering Al Mitchell says the Broadvoice deployment illustrates that network functions virtualization is ready for prime time.

The MTAS provides call control, contact center functionality, and unified communications. The SAS solution, meanwhile, offers continuous diagnostics and network visibility.

“With this further investment in Metaswitch’s world-class technology and support services, we are doubling-down on our success to ensure that we are best positioned for taking advantage of NFV while securing our network against potential disasters, including earthquakes," said Jim Murphy, CEO of Broadvoice. “We are committed to providing a best-in-class communication platform to our channel partners and customers. All of our hosted voice customers have been seamlessly migrated to the new platform, affording them unrivalled redundancy and reliability while giving us the ability to easily flex and scale our services to our customers’ demands, at any location."

As discussed in a recently released Broadvoice white paper, businesses are behind the communications curve as compared to their employees, who already are accustomed to fluid communications as a result of their personal devices such as smartphones, tablets, and connected watches. To achieve peak productivity, today’s employees want – and businesses need to supply – applications and communications capabilities that are easy to use, integrated, and accessible at all times, according to the paper.

“Business communication is changing. It’s becoming faster and more fluid,” said Murphy. “There are mobile employees, satellite offices, and a growing list of devices. Broadvoice integrates all of them. It’s all about connecting and collaborating anytime, anywhere, on any device.”
