Aryaka Launches SD-WAN ULTRA

By Paula Bernier February 04, 2016

Aryaka last week at NFV & SDN Expo launched its SD-WAN ULTRA service. This solution brings together cloud acceleration, a global private network, and WAN optimization. Businesses that use it can benefit from improved application performance, lower capital costs, and simplified network operations related to their branch offices.

“With the rapid proliferation of cloud services and SaaS applications, existing SD-WAN solutions fall short of meeting application performance expectations due to their reliance on the Internet,” said Ashwath Nagaraj, Founder and CTO of Aryaka Networks. “Building our SD-WAN technology on top of a global private network and adding WAN optimization allows us to not only address these performance bottlenecks but also reduce network complexity at branch offices while keeping capital investments low.”

SD-WAN is seeing growing interest and uptake as businesses deploy more cloud-based applications, see more mobile and video traffic on their networks, and grow increasingly frustrated with the cost and inflexibility of existing MPLS technology, on which most WANs today are based. That’s because, as Kumar Ramachandran, founder and CEO of CloudGenix, explains “SD-WAN dramatically simplifies the delivery of high performance cloud, unified communications, and data center applications to remote offices using any combination of MPLS, Internet, or LTE.”

Various sources indicate the SD-WAN space will reach $3.2 billion by 2018, $12.1 billion by 2019, and $7.5 billion by 2020. And the field of SD-WAN players is large and growing, with such companies as Aryaka, Cisco, Citrix, CloudGenix, FatPipe Networks, Glue Networks, Ipanema Technologies, Nuage Networks, Ocedo, Riverbed, Silver Peak, SimpleWAN, Talari Networks, VeloCloud, and Viptela in the mix.

Gary Sevounts of Aryaka Networks was on the Exploring the SD-WAN panel with me, Alexander Rodriguez of Talari Networks, Michael Wood of VeloCloud, and Khalid Raza of Viptela last week at NFV & SDN Expo, which was co-located with ITEXPO in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
