Midokura Solution Tapped for Quanta Cloud Technology Cloud Center

By David Delony November 13, 2015

Midokura, a company specializing if software network virtualization, has announced that the Quanta Cloud Technology Cloud Solution Center is showcasing is Midokura Enterprise MidoNet technology.

The offering is a version of Midokura’s MidoNet NFV software geared toward enterprise production use.

MidoNet lets administrators define virtual networking devices such as routers, switches, firewall, DCHP servers and NAT servers in software instead of having to wire up traditional networking devices. The advantage to doing it in software is that these virtual devices can be moved around from different physical machines the way virtual servers can.

The system can integrate with OpenStack, an open source project that makes it possible to deploy private clouds easily.

“Our customers are looking for network virtualization solutions that are already deployed in production environments," said Mike Yang, general manager of QCT. "Midokura has accumulated an impressive amount of experience in SDN and NFV, and that experience is reflected in their Midokura Enterprise MidoNet technology. We're very excited to demonstrate Midokura's product in our Cloud Solution Center as we continue our work together on joint solutions for networking in OpenStack clouds."

Virtualized network devices can shorten the time needed to deploy new networks as well as reduce capital and operating expenses on networking equipment.

QCT is a systems integrator that specializes in data centers. It will be deploying MEM in its new Cloud Solution Center in San Jose, CA. The data center will serve not only as a showcase for MidoNet but also for NFV in general right in the heart of Silicon Valley.

"Midokura looks forward to our continued collaboration with QCT in the development and deployment of new cloud solutions, as our engineers are already using QCT's new San Jose Cloud Solution Center for testing purposes," Adam Johnson, vice president of business at Midokura, said. "The demand for a new generation of cloud applications is growing, and working together alongside the QCT team, we plan to deliver world-beating joint solutions for our common partner ecosystem."
