Nectar Services Corp., SecureLogix Team Up to Secure Unified Communications

By David Delony June 05, 2015

As more businesses adopt unified communications (UC) technology, security is becoming an important problem. Nectar Services Corp. and SecureLogix have teamed up with a solution that assures that UC traffic is authorized.

UC operators are having to deal with harassing calls, denial of service attacks, fraud and social engineering attacks

Both companies have introduced the Experience Assurance Module (EAM), a rules-based policy engine available under Nectar’s Unified Communications Management Platform (UCMP).

“Nectar is leading with next generation SDN remediation and dynamic programmability for UC networks. We have a proven and long standing history of developing and producing innovation in the market, while other vendors are still trying to define a strategy beyond basic UC and user experience reporting,” Nectar CTO Joe Fuccilo said.

The modern business communication environment is a lot more complicated than it used to be. A network might use some components from Cisco, some from Avaya, others from Microsoft, and so on. Nectar claims to offer a solution that allows for deep inspection of a UC network to find not only security issues, but other quality of service issues.

At the same time, more businesses are opening their networks to consumer devices under BYOD policies. With the blurring of business and personal devices, it’s difficult to show who’s really authorized, especially when companies use multiple vendors.

The solution uses SecureLogix’s technology to root out unauthorized uses of a company’s UC network before they become major headaches.

"The integration of our business rules-based policy engine for collaboration security and management combined with Nectar's UC monitoring and diagnostics with SDN enables a new realm of dynamic security, diagnostics and mitigation all through one single integrated solution not available before," SecureLogix CTO Mark Collier said.

Anyone wanting a more up-close and personal look at Nectar’s solution can see it in action at Cisco Live conference in San Diego from June 7-11.
