MYCOM OSI Demos NFV Service Quality Management Solution

By David Delony June 01, 2015

MYCOM OSI, a provider of network service assurance, automation, orchestration and service assurance solutions, has announced a proof of concept that for NFV (Network Functions Virtualization) service assurance.

“NFV Orchestration should not be made in isolation of the overall network as otherwise there is a significant risk that the quality of overall network and services will suffer, and competing on network quality is a key business objective for progressive leading CSPs,” Mounir Ladki, president and CTO of MYCOM OSI,  said.

While NFV appeals to service providers with large networks looking to simplify their operations using standard servers and switches rather than specialized routers, the complexity of NFV can cause degradations in service. This forces customers to go elsewhere to more reliable providers.

If managing a moderate network in a small or medium-sized business is complicated enough, imagine managing a nationwide mobile network. That’s why having a good Management and Orchestration (MANO) system in place.

The solution is based on MYCOM’s ProActor, PrOptima and ProInsight products for managing large networks.

MYCOM’s solutions analyzes the data flowing across the networks and makes recommendations to improve service quality.

Sometimes the best way to understand abstract networking concepts is to see them solve problems. The company is showing a demo at its booth M Forum Live! conference. MYCOM shows its solution diagnosing problems in both the virtualized and physical networks.

“This Catalyst proof of concept demonstrates that CSPs can deploy their NFV environments and maintain network and service quality not just within the NFV environment itself but also in the context of the overall network, which should help them mitigate the risks associated with introducing VNFs into the otherwise purpose-built physical network environments,” Ladki said. “But to do this, you need proven solutions that collect and process vast amounts of multi-domain network, service and customer data in near real time and execute sophisticated cross-domain operational processes all within an automated closed-loop process.”
