EXFO Unveils New BrixNGN Infrastructure Performance Suite

By Deepika Mala July 21, 2014

Wireless telecommunications provider, EXFO Inc., recently launched its new BrixNGN Infrastructure Performance Suite.

Officials said that BrixNGN Infrastructure Performance Suite provides service providers with significantly enhanced visibility into the performance of network infrastructure, in the context of its impact on service quality.

The Suite uses patented optimization methods and is highly scalable to support the largest networks. It also offers sub-second polling for real-time performance assessment.

Featuring added support for control and provisioning of specific devices from Cisco, Juniper, RAD and others, the Infrastructure Performance Suite makes BrixNGN the perfect platform for wireless backhaul and business services.

As the network equipment transitions to virtualized and software-centric architectures, the need to monitor performance, and guarantee the availability and response time of critical network services, becomes vital to ensure smooth and uninterrupted network operation.

Operators, because of the sharing of hardware capabilities among virtualized equipment, most of the time lose visibility over equipment performance, which leads to poor quality, service outages and much longer repair times.

Owing to this, EXFO added the Infrastructure Performance Suite to its market-leading BrixNGN product line. The Suite enables the correlation of service-level KPIs with key infrastructure metrics.

"With the ability to address both existing and emerging technologies, BrixNGN is critical to ensuring infrastructure performance and to meeting the challenges that come with the shift to software-defined networking and network functions virtualization," said Claudio Mazzuca, VP of EXFO's Transport and Service Assurance Division, in a press statement. "BrixNGN ensures the successful delivery of services--virtual or otherwise, by providing operators with a comprehensive view of both network and service performance."

In April, NFVZone reported that EXFO Inc. expanded its FTB line of portable test platforms by introducing the industry’s smallest platform for high speed, multi-technology, and optical testing.
