Amdocs Simplifies Core Network Testing Processes

By Frank Griffin June 07, 2016

The network infrastructures is as vital to the digital world as are the roads we travel on every day in the physical world. As our reliance on digital technology continues to increase, these networks have to be optimized to manage the traffic with little to no disruptions of the services they deliver. The Core Network Testing Service just launched by Amdocs will make it easier to test core network processes to improve everything from cost of ownership to service agility.

According to Amdocs, this service will get rid of the testing cycle from multiple vendors which are responsible for delaying the introduction of new services and increasing operational costs. It will do so by addressing the high levels of complexity in today's networks from physical to virtualized instances. This includes 4G LTE and VoLTE network technologies that are being deployed around the world.

"Service providers are introducing advanced LTE services and transforming to open virtualized networks to improve service agility. We are seeing strong demand to deploy new network features at an accelerated rate, requiring faster and rigorous testing cycles across complex multivendor physical and virtual networks," said Ann Hatchell, head of network marketing at Amdocs.

Citing a recent Coleman Parkes research, Amdocs revealed the number of vendors service providers use to test their network is more than four. Amdocs is going to use its BEAT framework to unify and automate IT and network testing activities, operational and business support systems, and network packet core.

The methodologies Amdocs will implement is going to be powered by data analytics to provide test scoping and planning, network equipment testing, interoperability testing, pilot testing, network test lab management, and device certification for both physical and virtualized network functions testing.

The experience Amdocs brings in orchestration, policy and service control, and analytics, along with RAN and SON testing tools and practices is going to be used for a vendor-neutral approach to core network testing. The company anticipates service providers will be more agile so they can develop and scale new services much faster than ever before, while at the same time delivering a quality of service customers now demand.

If there is one constant in IT, it is change. And this change in many instances brings with it new solutions that require optimization of existing or deployment of new infrastructure. No matter which option operators select, the Amdocs Core Network Testing Service will provide the tools to keep their operations at optimal levels.
