GENBAND to Show Off NFV on DemoFriday

By Stefania Viscusi June 22, 2016

Communications Service Providers (CSPs) demand cost efficiencies and flexibility today to keep up with increasingly global demands. Delivering on this promise means utilizing the cloud and Network Functions Virtualization.  GENBANDs advanced media solution, which consists of market-leading voice and video transcoding capabilities, makes it possible to scale control and bearer plane VNFs with elasticity.

On Friday, June 24 at 1 p.m. EST the company will demonstrate its geo-distributed, environment-agnostic Virtual Network Functions (VNF) for telco cloud applications together with ecosystem partners Intel and HPE.  This will take place during a special Demo Friday event and highlight how High-performance, environment-agnostic VNF components deliver rapid service deployment and advanced transcoding capabilities.

Sanjay Bhatia, VP of Solutions Marketing and Strategy and Paul Miller, VP of Technology and Strategy at GENBAND will present during the webinar.

John McCready, EVP of Product and Corporate Development for GENBAND commented, “Our software-centric approach enables cost efficiencies and optimized service creation for Communications Service Providers (CSPs), helping them leverage the market and technological advantages of NFV including the ability to turn up new services on the fly, across geographies and in any environment.”

The company’s distributed Session Border Controller will be a key focus of the event. The SBC integrates an Advanced Control System (ACS) VNF and Advanced Media System (AMS) VNF so it’s possible to geo-distribute signaling/control and media VNFs.

To show that these tools can work just as well, if not better than hardware-based approaches, the demonstration will show how the AMS VNF uses an agnostic approach to dynamically scale media transcoding resources with traffic.
