Dorado Software and Sonus Demonstrate SBC MANO Lifecycle Management

By Rory Lidstone April 20, 2016

Dorado Software is a global provider of resource, performance management and service orchestration solutions for communications service providers that entered an interoperability agreement with Sonus Networks some months ago. This agreement was conceived to integrate Dorado’s Redcell MANO suite with Sonus SBCs. Now, the two companies are ready to demonstrate this integration at NFV World Congress 2016 this week.

The joint demonstration, directed specifically at communication service providers (CSPs), showcases a way to centrally manage, active and orchestrate Sonus’ virtual session border controller using the Redcell portfolio.

"By bringing the Sonus SBC under our Redcell MANO Lifecycle Management, we can help communication service providers centrally manage, activate and orchestrate Sonus' virtual SBC," said Chris Simon, CTO NFV, Dorado Software. "Sonus was one of the first virtualized SBC vendors and proved its commitment to NFV objectives by validating their virtual network function with Dorado Software's Redcell MANO platform. "

Dorado’s Redcell MANO is an integrated service orchestration, network management and closed-loop automation suite. Sonus’ SBC SWe, meanwhile, is a virtual version of the company’s SBC 5000 Series and SBC 7000 that enables customers to cost-effectively scale their networks to meet growing demand for secure, real-time voice and video traffic.

These two offerings used in conjunction provide CSPs with improved service agility, shorter time to revenue and secure interworking for next generation IP network services like VoLTE, IP trunking, Virtual CPE, and unified communications as a service (UCaaS). The demonstration of this being showcased this week shows a lifecycle scaling exercise triggered by traffic load anomalies in a fully automated and closed loop environment.

"The benefits of virtualization include faster time-to-market, more responsiveness to dynamic network demands, and reduced service delivery costs.  Today, we are seeing many CSPs looking to take advantage of these benefits by virtualizing their networks, including their SBCs," said John J. Grana, Sonus’ vice president of Business Development. "Sonus' partnership with Dorado provides CSPs with a comprehensive solution that enables true lifecycle management with automated orchestration of SBC VNFs for scaling and elasticity."
