Netrounds Joins NEC/Netcracker Ecosystem

By Paula Bernier October 17, 2016

NEC/Netcracker and Netrounds have forged a partnership through which the latter company’s software-based test and service assurance solutions will be integrated into the former companies’ network monitoring and orchestration solutions. The threesome also plans to collaborate on network functions virtualization and software-defined networking solutions, and related business and operational support systems.

These efforts, the companies explained, aim to enable communications services providers to become more agile so they can better compete in the marketplace.

“The integration of Netrounds with NEC and Netcracker's orchestration and network monitoring solutions allows our customers to utilize Netrounds' complete API to automate assurance and active analytics in their networks," said Mats Nordlund, CEO and co-founder of Netrounds, which is now a NEC/Netcracker SDN Partner Space ecosystem member. "The use of our open API for easy integration with OSS, NFV orchestration, service quality management and other adjacent support systems will assist our CSP customers in their quest for zero-touch automation and greater degrees of flexibility and dynamic control."

Netrounds also has relationships with ADVA Optical Networking, as discussed in this Sept. 19 blog by Nordlund, and with Cisco Systems, as noted in a 2015 Cisco blog. In fact, the ADVA and Netrounds at the recent Network Virtualization & SDN Asia in Singapore staged a demonstration involving the cloud, a data center, edge networking, and enterprise locations. And last year Cisco, Intel, Netrounds, Orange, and Telco Systems worked on proof of concept carried out within the ETSI NFV Industry Standardization Group.

“In order to achieve complete end-to-end assurance and gain visibility from the enterprise all the way to the data center, your assurance solution must concurrently support physical and virtual network domains and it must be able to actively test both the network and service layers to reflect the true end-to-end experience,” Nordlund wrote.

According to trustradius, AppNeta, Icinga, Metasploit, Nagios, PRTG Network Monitor, Qualys SolarWinds, and Zabbix are among the competitors of Netrounds.
