The Wind River Titanium Server gives telecommunication networks ultra-reliability and increased performance efficiencies with the industry's first fully integrated and feature-complete network virtualization software platform. Titanium Server has been designed to run virtual functions for today's computing and communications networks. For SDN/NFV network appliance manufacturers such as Lanner Electronics, validating its equipment with Wind River's Titanium Server ensures they are optimized for carrier-grade NFV deployment.
Lanner designs, engineers and manufacturers advanced and customizable SDN and NFV network computing appliances for system integrators, service providers and application developers. For the company, validating its appliances with leading vendors in the segment ensures its customers will be able to use the equipment out of the box knowing it will conform to the standards that have been established for virtualized deployments.
According to Lanner, the validation process ensures its NFV ready platforms will conform to the Wind River Titanium Server NFV infrastructure (NFVI) software solution. The process involves comprehensive testing as part of the Wind River Titanium Cloud ecosystem so customers can accelerate the time-to-deployment of carrier-grade NFV solutions. With this validation, the company can deliver carrier-grade network platforms optimized for NFV deployment.
"With validation through Wind River Titanium Cloud program, Lanner can create interoperable NFVi ready platforms for service providers and TEMs who can benefit from reduced OPEX while accelerating the introduction of add-on network services," said Jeans Tseng, Vice President of Telecommunication Applications at Lanner.
Lanner announced two product lines that have been validated, the HTCA-6000 series and FW-8896.
The HTCA-6000 series have a modular-design with multiple CPU blades, swappable network I/O blades, high-speed switching capability and full redundant design. Service providers will have carrier grade capabilities with high level of uptime and reliability telecom networks require in an always connected world. This series can be configured with 1/10/40/100 GbE network ports in an array of QSFP, SFP+ or copper combinations, achieving bandwidth beyond 480 Gbps with inter-communications between each CPU.
The FW-8896 is equipped with 8 NIC modules, capable of supporting up to 64 GbE ports to handle optimized instructions for communications workloads and enhanced packet processing capabilities, such as high-performance network security, enterprise firewall, UTM, IPS, application delivery controller and WAN optimization.
"As a proven NVF infrastructure software platform, Titanium Server ensures the service uptime, performance and security that are essential for service provider networks. By leveraging compatible and pre-validated NFV elements from other industry leaders such as Lanner, service providers can accelerate their deployments and maximize their Return on Investment for adopting network virtualization," said Charlie Ashton, senior director of business development for networking solutions at Wind River.
Communication service providers have to be always on without service interruption, and increasingly they are opting for NFV software infrastructure to make this possible. With the validation it received from Wind River Titanium Server, Lanner can now offer validated and market-ready end-to-end NFV solutions.
