Jeda Networks Announces Future Storage Network Technology

By Shankar Pandiath February 22, 2013

Jeda Networks, a specialist in networking and seasoned storage, recently announced its future storage framework for networking, named Software-Defined Storage Networks. This is Jeda Networks’ effort to deal with issues such as scalability, complexity and the high costs dogging modern storage.

This is a revolutionary effort in the present cloud era, transforming the networking of storage completely by supplying a crucial piece to the existing virtual IT infrastructure.

Storage networks today are expensive, limited and complex. This occurs in their endeavor to support present day application development, which is growing at an exponential rate.

To deal with this problem, Jeda Networks brings to the market SDSN technology, a revolutionary development by any standards. Using the hot new technology, storage networks no longer have any difficulty in growing with modern applications, and can easily support them seamlessly, minus escalating costs.

This is the very first endeavor of any company to use a purely software-based means to dealing with the storage networking issue. It uses Software-Defined Network (SDN) technology to manage current issues and address limitations. Companies can utilize SDSN software to different storage networks, ranging from a few systems to data centers on cloud platforms. For the smallest rack, storage network deployment using SDSN is a simplified process and uses only standard software for management – and is less expensive compared to the proprietary ones used in companies.

The same is true for expansive data centers where the versatile SDSN can easily deal with networking issues not available through conventional enterprise resource pool for storage due to scalability factors.

Deni Conner, StorageStrategies Founding analyst, said the Jeda Networks’ find is unique in every regard, and it has the ability to become a strong disruptive force in the market in the coming years. This is a bright new concept that takes an essentially hardware domain and turns storage networking into a sophisticated, easy-to-use software solution, giving the modern organization a high degree of scalability and flexibility in the virtual world.

This software solution is particularly vital for storage networks, in that it uses only existing physical components. This includes the Ethernet switches and standard Ethernet 10Gb/s adapters. There is no need to use any additional hardware or specialized software for the networking solution.
