Polatis and Quali Partner to Deliver Fiber Layer Management

By Rory Lidstone February 05, 2016

Polatis, a provider of all-optical switching solutions like its SDN-enabled hybrid packet/optical switch the Series 6000 Lite 48x48, has partnered with Quali, provider of cloud sandbox software for DevOps automation, to develop and deliver an integrated fiber layer management solution.

In order to accomplish this, the two companies integrated Quali’s CloudShell cloud sandboxing platform with Polatis’ family of fiber layer switching products, resulting in an easy-to-use, extremely flexible solution for configuring fiber layer connectivity on demand. This joint solution allows infrastructure vendors, data center operators and network service providers to quickly and easily execute complex equipment, system and service testing on high speed optical backbones.

On a more technical level, Quali’s CloudShell software is able to control Polatis’ all-optical switching products, which enables to ability to reconfigure Layer 1 resources dynamically from anywhere in the world. In addition, it facilitates seamless management of higher layer network elements, as well as other connected equipment, from a single control point.

Meanwhile, Quali’s visual modelling tool greatly simplifies the process of modelling and provisioning complex connectivity. Thanks to the low loss and superior optical performance of Polatis’ switches, this integration is able to achieve the most accurate and reliable testing in a wide range of network applications, with minimal latency and system impairments.

"By abstracting complex system environments, CloudShell enables Polatis customers to greatly simplify testing on high speed networks, and greatly increase productivity by enabling our switches to be used independently and simultaneously for multiple test beds," said Gerald Wesel, president and CEO of Polatis. "Quali truly understands the need for the highest standards in testing, which is evident in the CloudShell platform when coupled with Polatis switches.  Driven by our common customers, we are extremely pleased to partner with Quali to bring them the best possible solution for their testing needs."
