Overture Announces Ensemble Service Intelligence Solution for NFV Environments

By Laura Stotler January 30, 2015

Overture has expanded its Ensemble Open Services Architecture (OSA) with the new Ensemble Service Intelligence offering. The solution provides analytics and big data technologies for gleaning actionable intelligence of service orchestration.

The new solution works by storing and correlating data from both virtual and physical network components and pulls data from existing management systems including performance management and EMS solutions. It is also useful for multi-vendor network functions virtualization (NFV) environments and enhancing automated orchestration. NFV features include multi-level service verification and diagnostics, policy-based auto-scaling and service lifecycle management.

"Management and orchestration are the twin keys to the transformation promised by NFV, SDN and next-generation networking overall," said Tom Nolle, president of CIMI Corporation, a consulting company specializing in telecom, media and technology solutions. "Overture has long held a lead in orchestration, and their introduction of actionable intelligence for services extends that lead decisively. Their mastery of NFV was impressive before, and now it's complete."

Overture also announced its Ensemble Virtual Resources family of software products and the Ensemble Carrier Ethernet Virtual Network Function (VNF). The combined offerings are all geared to transforming service delivery overall and enabling networks to function autonomously. The Ensemble Service Intelligence offering specifically enables OSS integration and bridges NFV with legacy systems, while also facilitating additional application development. It includes a suite of service intelligence apps as well, providing service lifecycle history and the ability to monitor VNF performance to meet customer SLAs.

"The industry is witnessing unprecedented changes tied to service provider cloud virtualization and software-defined service,” said Mike Aquino, president and CEO, Overture. "We are continually focused on maximizing operational efficiencies, while driving new revenue-generating services faster than ever before into service provider mobility, business services, and consumer offerings."
