Brocade Receives Honors from Infonetics, Internet Telephony Magazine

By Casey Houser August 04, 2014

Networking solutions company Brocade announced recently that it has received recognition from both Infonetics Research and Internet Telephony Magazine for its contributions to the market segments of enterprise networking and network functions virtualization.

The annual Infonetics Research Annual Enterprise Networking and Communication Vendor Scorecard ranks the top seven enterprise networking and communications equipment vendors. This year, to qualify for rankings in the 2014 results, the rated companies must have earned more than $750 million in those fields in 2013.

Brocade came in second place this year in the Scorecard ranks. It earned a ranking of 3.3 -- between Cisco and HP which received respective rankings of 4.6 and 3.2 -- and the company's announcement of its accolades notes that Infonetics marked its "strong financials and market momentum" as its largest strengths.

Matthias Machowinski, directing analyst for enterprise networks and video at Infonetics Research, provided a statement regarding Brocade's achievement.

"Brocade remains a strong brand in the storage networking community and leverages long-standing and loyal customer relationships as it expands its data center portfolio," Machowinski said. "Brocade is not just a storage networking company anymore, and it is well positioned to gain market share in its key focus areas."

Infonetics provided Brocade with an accolade that reflects upon its overall business model. Internet Telephony Magazine, however, reflected on Brocades Vyatta 5600 vRouter and awarded the company with the Internet Telephony NFV Pioneer Award for the router's contribution to the field of network functions virtualization. The award is highly regarded among industry professionals.

TMC published Internet Telephony Magazine, and its CEO, Rich Tehrani, provided a comment about the winners of the Pioneer Award.

"As leaders in network functions virtualization, these recipients are blazing the trail as true pioneers within their industry," Tehrani said. "I look forward to seeing their future innovation and successes."
