Radware First to be Awarded Alcatel-Lucent's NFVisionary Award

By Matt Paulson March 19, 2014

Radware, a global leader in application delivery and security solutions for both virtual and cloud data centers, has announced that it is the first winner of the NFVisionary Award, presented by Alcatel-Lucent. The NFVisionary Award was created by Alcatel-Lucent to recognize virtual application companies that have had the greatest impact moving service providers into the cloud in 2013. Winners were selected from 26 technology providers in the company’s CloudBand NFV Ecosystem group.

The CloudBand NFV Ecosystem consists of several virtual network function vendors and service providers that are in the process of helping businesses deploy cloud-based and virtual networks, made easier by Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). By virtualizing entire classes of network node functions into easy-to-combine building blocks, NFV helps companies custom build their own optimized communication networks by snapping together their preferred network architecture.

Radware was chosen for the award due to their diligence in ensuring that service providers had the NFV tools that they needed, setting the standard for both availability and reliability that they expect. For starters, the company was one of the first to join the CloudBand NFV Ecosystem and pioneered early NFV solutions. These initial forays into the field led to the company choosing to collaborate with service providers instead of trying to monopolize their services, and Radware’s virtual load balancers are a key component in service provider NFV environments thanks to their elastic and scalable cloud capabilities.

According to Radware’s vice president David Aviv, “We are extremely honored to receive this award along with Alcatel-Lucent’s recognition of our ongoing efforts with NFV… As an early adopter in this ecosystem, we are pleased to see our hard work, dedication and efforts have been recognized.”

In addition to commemorating Radware’s service in the NFV industry, Alcatel-Lucent’s award also serves to help motivate other NFV providers and partners an example to strive for, so that they can build up their own services in hope of being recognized next year.
