Affirmed Networks Enhances Affirmed Mobile Content Cloud

By Rory Lidstone November 18, 2013

Affirmed Networks, a company that specializes in the virtualization of mobile networks has released new, enhanced capabilities for its Affirmed Mobile Content Cloud network function virtualization (NFV) solution. The solution enables operators to deploy fully virtualized mobile data networks as well as deliver multiple network services — all while providing excellent performance and resiliency in the cloud ecosystem.

This latest release of Affirmed Mobile Content Cloud, release 4, expands on its service orchestration capabilities. The result is a solution better able to help mobile operators accelerate the creation, delivery and monetization of new data services, while offering significantly lower operating costs in deploying these services. This release also offers enhanced service functions — charging, content filtering, intelligent analysis of various applications, video optimization, HTTP proxy, video caching — in a common virtualized architecture.

“Our Mobile Content Cloud provides operators the opportunity to architect and manage their networks in creative, intelligent new ways to drive next-generation services,” said Hassan Ahmed, chairman and CEO of Affirmed Networks, in a statement. “Operators are now able to deliver a fully virtualized evolved packet core and address the growing diversity in mobile services demanded by users. This cutting-edge technology represents a significant leap in realizing the promise of NFV and we are proud to see its continued recognition by the industry.”

Affirmed Networks has received a lot of praise by industry experts in recent years and has even received awards from the likes of Frost & Sullivan and the Boston Business Journal. The company was also named an OnMobile 100 Top Private Company. Earlier this year, Affirmed raised $51 million in a Series C funding round, which was spurred on by significant operator demand for its solutions.

The company’s success is a good sign of how virtualization has come into prominence in recent years. Those keen to learn more about this breakout technology may want to check out the Software Telco Congress event later this week — November 20-21 at Techmart, Network Meeting Center in Santa Clara, Caif. — to find out how virtualization is poised to shake up the telecommunications market.
