NoviFlow Recognized as Hot Company

By Michael Guta October 18, 2013

Recently established companies rely on word-of-mouth to generate buzz about the quality of the products and services they offer. The more people talk about the quality, the more the business will generate a long-lasting organic growth. In the information and communication technology (ICT) sector, there seems to be a buzz about every new product coming out of Silicon Valley or another tech hub, which don't always pan out. Having the product recognized by an established organization can go a long way into bringing awareness to the organization. Plug and Play Tech Center, a high-tech accelerator in Silicon Valley and home to more than 300 technology start-ups, has recognized Montreal-based NoviFlow, provider of high-performance OpenFlow-based switching solutions established in 2012, as the Hottest Company for the month of October.

As cloud infrastructure continues to grow amassing incredible volumes of data every single day, the networks charged with the task of controlling the traffic in and out of data centers around the world are being taxed to the limit. Traditional network setups are reaching their theoretical limits, and software defined network (SDN) is seen as the future for coping with the increasing global network traffic.

The NoviFlow OpenFlow switches are designed to help centers implement SDN and NFV (Network functions Virtualization) in high volume networks. The company has developed high-performance Ethernet switches that are compliant with the latest OpenFlow protocol. The goal of the company is to provide solutions so organizations will have the capacity to handle large number of flows and network scalability, as well as initial SDN deployments. By leveraging SDN technology, NoviFlow is able to resolve many of the problems data center operators and network operators face regarding specific network pain points as well as improving their network economy.

More information about NFV and its benefits will be discussed during Software Telco Congress - The NFV Event.

The company has been innovative in introducing ground breaking technology, and recently announced the world's first OpenFlow 1.3 Ethernet switch capable of delivering support for up to 1 million flow entries and 200 Gbps of throughput. The company also introduces new capabilities of its switches in a matter of two to three months compared to traditional development cycles, which can take up to two years for ASIC based switches. This ability to adapt to new technologies and introduce new products will ensure the company remains relevant in its sector for a long time to come.

The recognition of NoviFlow by Plug and Play Tech Center is based on the company's business model, its IP value, growth, and leadership team.

"The announcement by the Plug and Play Tech Center is an important milestone in the Company's active expansion into the American market, and an important validation of its Software Defined Networking solutions and business strategy," said Dominique Jodoin, President and CEO of NoviFlow.
