Network Functions Virtualization Provider Affirmed Networks Raises $51 Million in Series C Funding

By Laura Stotler June 12, 2013

Affirmed Networks, which specializes in network functions virtualization solutions for mobile networks, has raised $51 million in funding. The Series C funding round was based on significant operator demand for the company's solutions, including its Affirmed Mobile Content Cloud.

The company is gearing up to expand its carrier-grade virtualization solutions while also supporting multiple deployments and global trials. The new round of funding, led by Bessemer Venture Partners and KCK Group, will enable Affirmed Networks to focus on modernizing how mobile networks are architected, deployed and monetized.

Solutions from Affirmed Networks are designed to transform traditionally architected mobile networks to create intelligent, virtualized networks. This evolution will change operators' economics radically, allowing them to offer exciting new services at blazing fast speeds. The company's network functions virtualization solutions take into account a variety of features like streaming video content, transact commerce and social media solutions.

The Affirmed Mobile Content Cloud, AN3000 and Acuitas Service Management System are solutions designed to bring about the transformation and virtualization of network functions. The solutions enable quick rollout of value-added services, high performance and resiliency, scalability and unique content-delivery capabilities.

"Our mobile lives bring about an unprecedented disruption for operators in which networks and business models will undergo major overhaul," said Hassan Ahmed, chairman and CEO of Affirmed Networks. "The Affirmed team is creating solutions to transform the wireless world and enable operators to capitalize on this expanding opportunity. We are grateful to our investors for their deep commitment to our mission as we achieve increased market adoption of our solutions."

"Leveraging the capabilities of its unique service orchestration technology, the Affirmed Mobile Content Cloud and the AN3000 unveil new avenues for service creation and monetization for mobile operators, added Swapnadeep Nayak, senior research analyst at Frost & Sullivan. "By offering scope for highly personalized services the per-user experience offered by Affirmed Networks significantly enhances customer retention possibilities for the mobile operator."
