BRIEF: Centerplate CEO resigns after dog-kicking scandal [News & Record, Greensboro, N.C. :: ]
(News & Record (Greensboro, NC) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Sept. 02--A man who was caught on video abusing a canine in a Vancouver elevator has resigned from food and beverage company Centerplate, the Connecticut-based company announced today.
Desmond Hague, CEO Centerplate, was identified as the man seen kicking a dog in a video that was circulated online.
Centerplate's board of directors announced that Chris Verros was appointed as acting president and chief executive officer after Hague resigned. The decision comes as a result of Hague's "personal misconduct involving the mistreatment of an animal in his care," according to a news release on the company's website.
"We want to reiterate that we do not condone nor would we ever overlook the abuse of animals," board chairman Joe O'Donnell stated in the release. "Following an extended review of the incident involving Mr. Hague, I'd like to apologize for the distress that this situation has caused to so many; but also thank our employees, clients and guests who expressed their feelings about this incident. Their voices helped us to frame our deliberations during this very unusual and unfortunate set of circumstances." ___ (c)2014 the News & Record (Greensboro, N.C.)
