Nigeria: Indonesia, Nigeria trade hits US$588m [Pan African News Agency]
(Pan African News Agency Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Lagos, Nigeria (PANA) - The total trade volume between Nigeria and Indonesia on non-oil and gas transaction has reached US$588 million, representing a 26.8% growth trend, according to Director of Indonesian Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) Pontas Tobing.
The private Vanguard newspaper reported Saturday that as a result of the cordial bilateral trade relationship, Indonesians presently have over 15 reputable companies operating in Nigeria.
Tobing spoke in the commercial city of Lagos, ahead of Indonesia's 29th Trade Expo, scheduled for October, at the Jakarta International Expo in Kemayoran.
He, however, did not disclosed the previous bilateral trade figure and the period under which the US$588 million trade figure was achieved.
"Indonesia Trade Expo is the biggest exhibition organised by the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Industry, State Ministry of Cooperative, Small and Medium Enterprises and Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board to ensure that bi-national trade between Indonesia and other countries are prosperous," the ITPC boss said.
He said with the support of Indonesia Ministry of Trade, the ITPC in Lagos is dedicated to the promotion and improvement of business relationship by introducing quality market penetration of Indonesian products and services into the Nigerian market.
The Trade Expo is expected to boost the chances of business-minded individuals, particularly those who want to invest in Indonesian industrial sector.
