BRIEF: ACU AD Mosley resigns to take job with Texas Sports HOF [Abilene Reporter-News, Texas :: ]
(Abilene Reporter-News (TX) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Aug. 22--Abilene Christian athletic director Jared Mosley announced Friday he's resigning after 10 years to become the CEO and president of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.
The resignation is official immediately, but he will stay on with ACU through mid-October while school president Dr. Phil Schubert conducts a national search for his replacement.
Mosley, who guided the Wildcats' transition from NCAA Division II to Division I and into the Southland Conference, will begin his duties with the Texas Sports HOF on Sept. 1.
Mosley, a standout basketball player at ACU in the late 1990s, became the school's seventh athletic director in June 2004. Under his watch, the Wildcats won 10 Division II national titles, 20 Division II regional championships and 46 Lone Star Conference titles.
ACU also improved its academic performance among student-athletes with the average athlete GPA rising from a low of 2.74 to 3.0 last year.
Mosley also was an accomplished in the area of fundraising, spearheading the effort on the athletics side for ACU's $75 million Vision in Action initiative to build three new science facilities and two new on-campus stadiums -- one for football and another for track and soccer.
