Ex-Telkom boss joins Woolies board [ITWeb]
(ITWeb Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Telkom's former CEO, Nombulelo "Pinky" Moholi, joins Woolworths as a non-executive director.
Nombulelo "Pinky" Moholi, former CEO of Telkom, has joined the Woolworths board as a non-executive director, the retailer said yesterday.
In addition to Moholi's appointment, the group named Hubert Brody as an independent non-executive director.
In a statement, Woolworths notes Moholi has more than 24 years' experience in the ICT sector and was Telkom's CEO between 2011 and March 2013, when she stepped down. She also serves as non-executive director for Anglo American Platinum and Old Mutual Emerging Markets, and is chairperson of Nedbank's Eyethu Community Trust, it says.
Moholi left Telkom at the end of March 2013, after having quit (../index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=59770:Telkom-CEO-resigns&catid=260) the previous November. She was replaced by Sipho Maseko.
Moholi, whose appointment as CEO of the country's biggest fixed-line operator was announced in March 2011, replaced acting head Jeffrey Hedberg, after he decided earlier in 2011 not to renew his contract.
During her tenure, she oversaw the sale of the Multi-Links business to an associate of former adversary Helios Towers Nigeria, for $10 million (R68 million), and was at the helm when government spurned a R3.3 billion offer from Korea-based KT Corporation to buy 20% of the group.
Woolworths adds Brody is a CA and was previously CEO of Imperial. He previously held a number of senior and executive positions in the Imperial group, including serving as financial director of Imperial Bank.
