Labour Ministry bags Oracle's top Technology Initiator Award for excellent performance [Emirates News Agency (WAM) (United Arab Emirates)]
(Emirates News Agency (WAM) (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) DUBAI, 11th May, 2014 (WAM) -- The Ministry of Labour (MoL) has recently received an honorable award in recognition for its use of technology to support its operations, development projects and providing excellent services.
The award was presented by Oracle Corp., one of the largest American multinational computer technology corporations that specialises in developing and marketing of computer hardware systems and enterprise software products.
Ahmed Al Nasser, Director of the Ministry s Information Technology Dept. received the award on behalf of Saif Al Suwaidi, Assistant Under-Secretary for Institutional Support Services during a ceremony, which was held at the Armani Hotel, Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
Al Nasser expressed his gratitude for winning such an award, which confirms the ministry's keenness to develop towards an electronic transformation through the use of advanced systems and software associated with the development of its most prominent projects, such as Tas heel, Labour market informative systems and other technically advanced systems.
He also praised the efforts made by Oracle Corp. for supporting and selecting the Ministry of Labour as a distinctive government entity in the information technology sector.
Al Nasser pointed out that the MoL was eager on strengthening partnership with technical institutions, and chose Oracle Corp. which in return, through conducting studies and research, have contributed to overcoming the most technical challenges that the ministry faced during the past period. OC has offered many of the technical solutions to increase the effectiveness of operational tasks, notably solutions offered to manage data, which was compatible with OC s Professional data model system using the Exadata databases system.
"The ministry needs to support more than 1,500 users on its IT frame and accommodate a database that is steadily growing, and that has pushed the ministry to apply the Exadata database system by Oracle Corp. who played a crucial role in improving the performance of applications that are available and contribute to faster access to information about the work of the ministry and support projects to expand its business in line with supporting the labour market growth in the country," he said.
For his part, Hossam Refaat, Senior Regional Sales Manager at Oracle Corp. had praised the ministry for adapting to face technological challenges through the adoption of high quality solutions and technical methods that had contributed positively to transaction of management procedures.
