Zahara to serenade Byo [Southern Eye (Zimbabwe)]
(Southern Eye (Zimbabwe) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SOUTH African award-winning singer Zahara will serenade Bulawayo tomorrow evening when she takes part in the Green Concert at the Amphitheatre.
Luyanduhlobo Makwati/ Benson Dube The show will feature Diana Samkange and Cynthia Mare — expected to kick start the fundraising show for the victims of the Tokwe-Mukosi and Tsholotsho floods.
Edgars marketing executive Rumbidzai Dzimba said they will next week put containers in every Edgars store where members of the public can give their donations for flood victims.
Edgars Stores group corporate social responsibility manager Stephen Guwa echoed the same sentiments with Dzimba saying members of the public will have the opportunity to give their donations for flood victims through containers in their stores.
"As Edgars we shall have bins dotted around city stores and we urge people to bring whatever they want to donate so that they can assist some of our brothers that were victims of the unforeseen disaster," he said.
He said Edgar's has three cartons of goodies worth over $1 000 set aside for the victims.
"As a company, we will donate goods worth more than a $1 000 to the cause of these people ," Guwa said.
Tonight Zahara would perform in Harare at a show where Environment, Water and Climate minister Saviour Kasukuwere is expected to be the guest of honour.
Zahara's debut album Loliwe released in 2011 sold out within 72 hours and 19 days later it reached double platinum status in South Africa when it surpassed 100 000 sales.
She became the second musician in South Africa to reach the milestone after Brenda Fassie's Memeza sold 500 000 copies within weeks of release.
Zahara will be joined on the stage by an array of local artistes including Willis Wataffi.
Edgars Stores facilitated with funds for the artiste to be in the country.
The Green Concert that saves as an environmental awareness campaign through music, dance and song will be held under the theme "Remembering Tokwe-Mukosi — One Environmental Family".
