Action, not celebrations to change lives: Tareen
(Nation (Pakistan) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Jahangir Khan Tareen has said that his party will bring about fundamental changes in the country conducive for protecting the rights of labourers, farmers and the common man besides ensuring implementation of laws framed for the welfare and protection of labourers and other working classes.
Addressing the workers of PTI in connection with international Labour Day, Jahangir Khan Tareen added that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is struggling for the rights and provision of equal opportunities of progress to the deprived sections of the society. He said that labourers, farmers, youth and Students must have significant role in the formulation of national policy of development.
He pointed out that that many projects of social Justice had been initiated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) which would have profound impact on the lives of the common man. He said that with the implementation of ”Tammeer-e-School Program“ children of farmers and labourers would be able to get quality education in an honourable way.
”On the occasion of International Labour Day we pledge that strong foundation will be laid for the prosperity of the poor in the county,“ he pledged. He said that it was regretful that majority of the labourers was leading life below poverty line. He said that changes of fundamental nature are required for increasing per capita income of common man. He said that instead of confining to the celebration of events, there is dire need to initiate concrete measures for the welfare of labourers, farmers and deprived segments of society.
MEPCO CRACKDOWN: During a massive crackdown on defaulter of public departments, the Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) cut off power supply connections of many departments besides recovering over Rs177 million.
Mepco sources said that the connections of Police, Irrigation, Public Health Engineering, TMA, District Government, Pak Telecom Services and many other departments were cut off while Nishtar Hospital, Railways, Wapda, National Highway, Rangers and Prisons departments prevented disconnection by paying their dues.
