Philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad have given $1 million to Pitzer
College as part of its 50th Anniversary Campaign. The funds
will support an endowed financial aid scholarship named after the couple.
The Eli and Edythe Broad Endowed Scholarship, which was established in
1994, supports at least three Pitzer students each year who are in good
academic standing and have demonstrated financial need. The gift is part
of Pitzer's 50Forward fundraising campaign, which concludes
Saturday, May 3 during Pitzer's 50th Anniversary celebration,
The Orange and White Ball.

Skandera Trombley's leadership as she builds on Pitzer's history and
ensures a thriving future," said Eli Broad, founder of The Broad

The Broads have been supporters of Pitzer College for nearly four
decades and have given more than $11.3 million to the College. In
addition to the endowed scholarship, the Eli and Edythe Broad Center and
Broad Hall on campus are named in their honor.

its students and its mission," said Pitzer President Laura Skandera
Trombley. "For nearly 40 years, their support has changed the lives of

Eli Broad is an emeritus trustee of Pitzer College and the founder of
two Fortune 500 companies. He served on the Pitzer College board from
1970 to 1982 and was chairman of the board from July 1973 to June 1979.
In November 2012, Pitzer College launched its 50th
Campaign, which aimed to raise $50 million to expand student aid,
strengthen academic programs, improve critical facilities and increase
annual support and alumni participation.
Broad Foundations were established by entrepreneur and
philanthropist Eli Broad and his wife Edythe to advance entrepreneurship
for the public good in education, science and the arts. The Broad
Foundations, which include The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation and The
Broad Art Foundation, have assets of $2.7 billion.
