surpassed 80,000 users. This milestone is a clear indication that users
love the expressive and creative nature of the platform.
Ku (previously known as Heyku) aims to help people express themselves
with words in a simple, unique, and creative way. It guides them to
express moments on digital sticky notes called kus. The app walks people
through the creation of a ku by asking engaging questions to help share
their experience at any moment. Ku helps people capture moments, not
just with pictures but also with statuses, sounds and doodles. These
digital sticky notes can be shared within the app's community and on
other social media platforms.
"Many people want to share something thoughtful with their friends but
don't know where to start," said Ohad Assoulin, founder and CEO of Ku.
"The main idea behind Ku is to create a guided pth that inspires users
to write a moment, and express their feelings in a way that will bring
others to experience their moments, too. Ku is fostering a very active
community. We have people supporting each other through tough or
exciting times. In fact, two of our users are even getting married to
each other partly because of our app."
By providing users artistic stimuli they are able to get Ku users
generating creative content for their social networks. Currently, 30% of
all kus have been shared on other platforms. The app is designed to
bring out the creative elements in people. Ku gives users simple and
easy steps to capture moments. They have the option to write free text
or answer a list of questions to guide them through expressing what is
happening in real time. Ku was inspired by the classic Japanese haiku,
but the app provides its own unique twist on the format. The amount of
words that can be written on an update is limited to eighteen, helping
to focus the kus and generate creativity. Beyond that, when users are
done writing their ku they can touch and drag the words to literally
give them shape and create different rhythms in the text.
Additionally, the app has a doodling feature with an advanced algorithm
that makes the final doodle look great, providing a unique way to
publish artsy, colorful doodles alongside statuses. Since the launch of
the doodle feature, 35% of all kus written include a doodle. The posts
that include doodles are receiving 10% more engagement on Ku. The app
was also recently updated to include support for sounds, allowing users
to share what they hear going on around them. A ku about rain can
actually play the recorded sound of rain falling. Kus are also
categorized with hashtags making it easy to find posts about specific
