Day in the IT department gives Luke a taste of work [Gloucestershire Echo (England)]

(Gloucestershire Echo (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) FIRE safety and security firm Allcooper is supporting a scheme aimed at giving work experience to young people with a learning disability. It welcomed Luke Coulston Jenkins, an autistic student from the National Star College, Ullenwood, into its Gloucester office.

The visit was part of the 30/30 challenge, under the Grow Gloucestershire campaign.

Luke joined the IT department for the day, assisting staff with helpdesk enquiries, checking stock levels, sorting the software archive and re-connecting PCs and IT equipment. IT manager Hugo Grimes said "It was an absolute pleasure to work with Luke, who is a very polite and friendly individual." Allcooper's chief executive Roman Cooper added: "We were very happy to take part in the 30/30 challenge by offering Luke a day's work experience. The initiative is hugely rewarding for all and gives students a real taste of a working environment." (c) 2014 ProQuest Information and Learning Company; All Rights Reserved.
