More than 21 startups presented their technology offerings to Exelon
executives and IT employees at "Dancing with Startups," a two-day event
hosted by Exelon and the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore at the
University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and the Cyber Point Technology
& Innovation Center last week.
The event is part of Exelon's continuing effort to reach out to
technology innovators in search of new ideas that have the potential to
transform the energy industry. From cybersecurity software to smartphone
technology, participating companies pitched their ideas and products
during rapid-fire, 20-minute sessions. Exelon employees peppered the
groups with questions, seeking to identify new technologies that Exelon
might be able to pilot.
"We are committed to supportig innovation, within Exelon, in the
greater Baltimore area, and in all the communities we serve," said Sonny
Garg, senior vice president and chief information and innovation officer
at Exelon. "This event allowed us to connect with local startups, learn
from their ideas and help them build their networks, while giving us a
chance to find new technologies that can improve how we do business."
"Dancing with Startups" is part of a series of events that pairs
multinational corporations with innovative startup companies in the
areas of technology, media services, big data and cybersecurity, among
other industries. Over time, Exelon plans to host similar events
targeting different types of technology.
