Two Northrop Grumman Employees Receive Asian-American Engineer of the Year Awards
(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 04 March 2014 Release date- 03032014 - SAN FRANCISCO - Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) employees Dwight Yamada and Linh Dang received top awards at the annual Asian-American Engineer of the Year event, held this weekend in San Francisco.
The AAEOY Award is a National Engineers Week program recognizing outstanding Asian-American professionals for their leadership, technical achievements and public service in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Since 2002, hundreds of Asian-American professionals from U.S. technology corporations, research institutions and the U.S. Armed Forces have been honored with AAEOY awards. The past awardees included Nobel Laureates, academicians, corporate executives and astronauts.
Yamada, the director of Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity contracts for Northrop Grumman Information Systems, received an Executive of the Year award. He has held a variety of technical and executive positions at Northrop Grumman including directing an advanced technology lab, customer demonstration center and large networking and information technology programs for the Department of Defense.
He is a two-time winner of the company's Chairman's Award for Innovation. Yamada serves as the executive sponsor for the Asian Pacific Professional Network Employee Resource Group and actively supports K-12 programs in STEM. He earned a bachelor's degree in computer science and electrical engineering from the University of Hawaii.
Dang, an automated production line manager for Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, received an Engineer of the Year award. She has received two Northrop Grumman Distinguished Invention Awards, a NASA Tech Brief Award, three patents and has authored or co-authored more than 10 peer-reviewed articles and papers. She led a team that developed some of the key fabrication processes in high electron mobility transistor technology. Dang earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, a master's in material science and engineering, and a master's in business administration, from the University of California, Los Angeles.
