(Grimsby Telegraph (UK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) OH MR Mickleburgh, following your letter that was printed in Viewpoint the other day, I would like to ask if you would please go and enrol on an elementary computer course for beginners! Three things spring to mind in relation to your non-delivery quandary namely delivery receipt, read receipt and bouncing e- mails.
Let me explain as it as simply as possible. If you are using say, Microsoft Outlook, or any software with an ounce of recognition, there are boxes to tick in relation to outgoing e-mails.
These are called 'Delivery receipt' and 'Read receipt'. Ticking these will ask the recipient if he wishes to supply you with this information upon receipt of your outgoing e-mails.
These are normally ticked as standard and are dealt with automatically and, if they are not, the recipient will be asked if he/she wishes to acknowledge receipt and as nothing is gained by refusing one can assume they will.
If your email cannot be delivered for reasons such as incorrect e- mail address, this will bounce back to you reasonably quickly by your hosting ISP giving the reasons for non-delivery.
