STAYING IN or GOING OUT ; Couch potato or gadabout town? We pick the best ways to enjoy yourself in the coming week [Sunday Mirror (England)]
(Sunday Mirror (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) GAMES TO LOOK FORWARD TO IN 2014 TITANFALL Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC. Out March Created by key members of the Call of Duty Modern Warfare team, Titanfall promises to redefine first person shooters in the next- gen era.
For a start it's both campaign driven and entirely multiplayer, the game's narrative woven in and around a series of large-scale skirmishes. And what scale! The titular Titans are massive mechs that provide unprecedented protection and firepower on the battlefield. The game's real genius, however, could be the way it balances them against the regular grunts.
Jetpacks and parkour ensure footsoldiers aren't confined to terra firma, and the multi-tiered maps encourage acrobatic battles and fast, free-flowing firefights.
Microsoft reportedly paid a not inconsiderate chunk of change to ensure exclusivity for Titanfall in the hope it could be their not- so-secret weapon to turn the tide of the next-gen console war.
From what I've seen so far, I wouldn't bet against it...

WATCH DOGS Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, PC. Out in spring Ubisoft's open-world cyber-hacking game looked impressive even before it was delayed for six months. Now we just want to play the damn thing! ALBUM ONE DIRECTION Midnight Memories The boyband are a worldwide phenomenon so it's not surprising their third studio album is the fastest selling of the year so far. It's a more rock sound than fans are used to as the boys show their maturity. The pick of the 14-track disc is ballad You and I.

DVD WHAT MAISIE KNEW 99 mins. Cert 15. Out now A truly delightful comedy-drama, the film follows sweet and sensitive Maisie (the enchanting Onata Aprile) who is stuck in the middle of a divorce between her rock star mother (Julianne Moore) and art dealer father (Steve Coogan), both too selfinvolved to care for her properly, but too selfish to give her up. A charming and engaging film.
SATIRE FORTUNE'S FOOL Old Vic Theatre, London Rarely has a production presented two such wildly different halves, but that is what makes Lucy Bailey's production of Turgenev's 1848 play so brilliantly effective.
The first half takes the form of a country house satire, as newly- married Olga returns home to find various hangers-on drifting around her vast inherited mansion.
These include Kuzovkin (Iain Glen), a sort of court jester.
Egged on by the horribly unforgettable Tropatchov (Richard McCabe) he reveals a huge secret - which takes the play in a dark direction. The evening swoops from wildly funny to genuinely moving. Highly recommended.
