BeyondTrust Releases New Version of Retina CS

Jun 17, 2013 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- BeyondTrust announced the release of Retina CS 4.5.

According to a release, by integrating PowerBroker product portfolio with Retina CS, customers are able to combine vulnerability data with privileged identity and password management risk intelligence, providing improved situational awareness when it comes to prioritizing risk reduction and remediation.

The company pointed out that Retina CS is the centerpiece of the BeyondTrust vision of Context-Aware Security Intelligence which helps organizations answer the most pressing questions in security - what to fix first, what to fix next and why. Retina CS does this through unmatched security intelligence and analytics for the entire IT landscape - servers, desktops, as well as mobile and virtual assets and those which reside in the cloud.

"With Retina CS, in addition to already incredibly strong capabilities around traditional vulnerabilities, BeyondTrust customers can now enhance risk-based decision making by understanding how assets are being used and potentially exposed by delegated administrators," said Brad Hibbert, executive vice president of product strategy and operations at BeyondTrust. "Customers can now encourage a risk-driven culture across both security and operations teams. Security teams gain insight into operational activities to improve prioritization of remediation activities, and operations teams can consider the risks associated with assets when prioritizing and tightening least privilege policy." Enabling these extended capabilities of Retina CS 4.5, BeyondTrust on June 12 also announced the integration of its vulnerability management solution with PowerBroker UNIX & Linux and PowerBroker Password Safe.

-PowerBroker UNIX & Linux coupled with Retina CS now provides improved reporting and analytics capabilities empowering organizations to look companywide at the activities occurring on critical UNIX and Linux servers from a root delegation perspective.

-PowerBroker Password Safe integrated with Retina CS provides improved reporting and analytics capabilities to secure access to privileged accounts in heterogeneous IT environments.

In addition to these product portfolio integrations, new features and enhancements to Retina CS 4.5 include: -Smart group filtering by new class of Smart Rules for Vulnerabilities -Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) data enhancements and expanded reporting capabilities -Offline VMware scanning of Windows guest OS's -Data discovery (Personally Identifiable Information) reporting and analytics -Expanded and new reports on key project areas (access, privilege, PCI, patches, file integrity, benchmark, etc.) Recently the company announced expanded Retina CS integration for PowerBroker for Windows 6.0, the industry's first identity management solution able to leverage least privilege and vulnerability data, allowing customers to take a system's overall risk into context when deciding what level of privileges a user or system should be given.

BeyondTrust is a security solution vendor providing Context-Aware Security Intelligence.

Virtualization has taken the IT world by storm but to date the comms market has been mostly unaffected – relying instead on proprietary appliances for numerous functions. A recent industry push to establish network standards virtualization will potentially shake-up the telecommunications market even more than the move to IP communications. As network hardware begins to be released as software, carriers are expected to save money and benefit greatly from new levels of flexibility related to hosting their network in private and virtual private clouds.
