(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3579 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1191 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4176 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Wednesday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. BANK OF AMERICA CORPORATION (NYSE:BAC), Brocade Communications Systems Inc (NASDAQ:BRCD), Petroleo Brasileiro SA Petrobras (NYSE:PBR), INTEL CORPORATION (NASDAQ:INTC), Vale SA (NYSE:VALE), (:EXLA). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below: Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction BAC $-0.600 -4.89% 102,009,959 30.65% 106,728,801 32.07% -4,718,842 -78,647 BRCD $-0.070 -1.24% 5,067,116 39.52% 7,754,944 60.48% -2,687,828 -383,975 PBR $-0.680 -4.24% 4,339,336 23.51% 7,454,050 40.39% -3,114,714 -45,805 INTC $-0.020 -0.07% 37,806,554 47.72% 41,487,845 52.37% -3,681,291 -1,840,646 VALE $-0.460 -2.77% 8,419,468 24.00% 11,516,054 32.83% -3,096,586 -67,317 EXLA $-0.016 -40.75% 3,565,935 33.13% 6,673,166 61.99% -3,107,231 -1,906,277 Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows BAC down $-0.60000 with a Friction Factor of -78,647 and a Net Volume of -4,718,842. That means that it takes 78,647 more shares of selling than buying to drop BAC by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
