Try our new iPad app
Feb 23, 2013 (The News & Observer (Raleigh - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- To our readers, We have added a new way to stay connected to news and information from The N&O -- an app for the iPad. On it, you'll find breaking news, coverage of sports and politics, photo galleries and a "daily magazine" that offers a deeper look at big stories from around the nation and world. All of the content is specifically formatted for the iPad.
As I've noted in the past, our goal is to provide you with great content in all the ways you want to experience it. Many readers start the day with our printed edition. Others prefer to visit newsobserver.com, our recently redesigned website, on a desktop or laptop computer, and some use our smartphone apps to stay up to date. The iPad app provides one more option. It allows you to customize the sections on your home screen and their order, as well as enabling you to email, share and save articles.
I hope you'll download the app and let us know your thoughts about it. You can find a link to it from the newsobserver.com home page. If you're looking in Apple's App Store, please select "The Raleigh News & Observer for iPad" for free download. It is compatible only on the iPad and requires iOS 6.0 or later.
You'll be able to use the app without charge for an introductory period, but then it will become part of N&O Plus, our digital subscription plan. At that point, you will be asked to log in or subscribe after you have viewed 70 articles in a month.
(We also have an iPad app for our digital replica, or e-edition, which requires a digital-only or N&O Plus subscription to access content.) We'll continue to fine tune the new iPad app as we work to create an increasingly rewarding and interactive experience for tablet users. Please share your feedback with us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
