Shop keeps memory of Danny alive [Gloucestershire Echo (England)]

(Gloucestershire Echo (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) TAKING over a shop in memory of a fallen soldier in Cheltenham has more than one significance for businessman Barney Singh.

The father-of-three, who lives in Cheltenham, has reopened Danny's Fish Bar on lower High Street, selling the traditional fish and chips, with a new menu.

Run as a family business, Barney, 43, bought the shop in December last year, and wanted to keep the its name because his oldest son's name is Daniel.

He then found out the fish bar used to be owned by the extended family of Corporal Danny Nield, pictured, a Cheltenham soldier who had died in the line of duty in Afghanistan in 2009.

Mr Singh said: "It was coincidence.

We are delighted his legacy is staying in Cheltenham." (c) 2013 ProQuest Information and Learning Company; All Rights Reserved.
