Farmers of North America To Act As Agent For CWB
Winnipeg - January 24/13 - CNS, Jan 24, 2013 (Commodity News Service Canada, Inc. via COMTEX) -- CWB and Farmers of North America (FNA) Thursday announced they have reached an agreement that will see FNA act as a key sourcing agent for CWB contracts.
FNA staff will communicate CWB pool and program information to farmers and sign up their contracts. Farmers will then be able to deliver their grain to any elevator or producer car loading site, as CWB has agreements with all Prairie grain handlers, a release from the CWB said.
"CWB programs are similar to FNA's other services in that they help put more money in farmers' pockets," said CWB president and CEO Ian White. "We are extremely happy to have the opportunity to work with FNA to help serve their thousands of members across Western Canada and other farmers by strengthening their bottom lines." White said there are many benefits for FNA members to choose CWB.
"With CWB pools, farmers receive all the profits earned from selling their grain through the pooling period, less a fixed management fee," said White. "CWB also has a world class sales team with access to a global customer network developed over decades." FNA grain marketing spokesperson Bill Martin, said the agreement marks a key advance for farmers in ensuring a competitive environment in the grain marketing sector.
"We believe in competition," said Martin, " and we are working to ensure that CWB, with 75 years of focusing on farmers, remains a competitive player and a valuable option for farmers." FNA brings a significant and diverse team to the process, according to Martin, as FNA Members include farmers from a variety of farm groups across Western Canada.
"Farmers from all perspectives have joined FNA's farm business alliance understanding that what unites us is a singular mission of improving farm profitability," Martin said.
FNA is a business alliance of farmers that have joined together as Members of FNA to improve farm profitability by reducing costs, increasing revenue, and advocating for regulatory change on behalf of its members. Headquartered in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, FNA has a network of staff across the country serving over 10,000 members from coast to coast.
