Computer Recycling in Calgary, Edmonton, Alberta with a spin that helps the local community
CALGARY, Jan. 23, 2013, 2013 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX) -- The ERA (Electronic Recycling Association of Alberta) has begun what will be another successful year of filling donation requests for charities and community groups in Calgary. In the month of January ERA has filled two donation requests so far to Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse, with a donation of seven laptops, and The Calgary Women's Emergency Shelter with three laptops.
Rather than laptops, computers, servers, networking equipment and other electronics that are disposed on a daily basis in Alberta and across Canada getting shredded or melted, the ERA can destroy the private confidential data, then refurbish the systems and give them a second home, in many needy and deserving charities.
Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse is the primary sexual abuse and sexual assault crisis and education service provider for Calgary and surrounding areas. They strive to enhance the health and well being of all people and the broader community through responsible and effective programs in sexual abuse education, research and advocacy, crisis intervention and counseling.
The Calgary Women's Emergency Shelter strives to support individuals and their families in their efforts to live free from family violence and abuse. It was the first shelter in Western Canada for women fleeing family violence. Thirty five years later The Calgary Women's Emergency Shelter is one of the largest organizations in Canada for women, children, youth and men hurt by family violence.
The ERA's dedication to reducing e-waste across Canada through the reuse and recycling of unwanted IT equipment has allowed other non-profit organizations and community groups to function to the best of their ability by providing for their IT needs.
