Keller man accused of lighting fire in Radio Shack store during robbery
FORT WORTH, Jan 10, 2013 (Fort Worth Star-Telegram - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A 22-year-old Keller man is behind bars this morning, accused of squirting a clear liquid onto the counter of a Radio Shack, lighting it on fire, and then threatening to do the same to the employee if his robbery demands were not met.
"Do you want this to happen to you " the robber reportedly told the employee, according to a Fort Worth police report.
The robbery occurred about 8:16 p.m. Wednesday at the Radio Shack at 201 N.E. 28th Street in north Fort Worth.
The employee told police that a man wearing a camouflage hoodie walked into the store demanded 2 iPhones, 2 Playstation PS Vita systems and cash, the report states.
The robber then squirted liquid from a clear bottle onto the glass counter near the register and lit it with a cigarette lighter. The employee told police he complied with the robber's demands for fear that he would be burned.
An employee of the store followed the robber as he fled from the business on foot, alerting police that the suspect had removed his camouflage hoodie, was now wearing a black hoodie, and had gone inside a check cashing business on N. Main Street.
Officers located the suspect, wearing a black hoodie and carrying a green backpack, inside that business. Officers noted that the man, identified in a police report as Yusef Aziz Dove, also had a strong odor of gasoline on him.
The report states Dove was identified as the robber by the Radio Shack employee. Inside Dove's backpack, police located the stolen property and cash, as well as a camouflage hoodie, the report states.
Dove was being held in the Mansfield jail Thursday morning with bail set at $50,000.
