(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3999 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2718 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2830 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Monday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Tellabs Inc (NASDAQ:TLAB), Rite Aid Corp (NYSE:RAD), CSX Corp (NYSE:CSX), Chimera Investment Corp (NYSE:CIM), Alcoa Inc (NYSE:AA), Southern Pacific Resource Corp (NYSE:STP). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below: Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction TLAB $-0.090 -3.95% 3,713,960 37.00% 6,307,445 62.84% -2,593,485 -288,165 RAD $-0.080 -5.88% 7,090,735 27.93% 10,369,134 40.85% -3,278,399 -409,800 CSX $-0.420 -2.01% 2,919,349 26.59% 4,939,582 44.99% -2,020,233 -48,101 CIM $-0.030 -1.10% 2,689,195 29.83% 5,031,310 55.80% -2,342,115 -780,705 AA $-0.130 -1.40% 7,669,163 35.32% 9,365,439 43.13% -1,696,276 -130,483 STP $-0.370 -19.79% 4,095,027 31.95% 5,668,347 44.22% -1,573,320 -42,522 Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows TLAB down $-0.09000 with a Friction Factor of -288,165 and a Net Volume of -2,593,485. That means that it takes 288,165 more shares of selling than buying to drop TLAB by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
