Another successful Christmas for the "Up All Night" dinner program
Dec 26, 2012 (LaGrange Daily News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Another successful Christmas for the "Up All Night" dinner program slideshow Christmas day started early at the Cannon Street Elementary School for the "Up All Night" volunteers.
At 6:30 a.m. Jake Sessions and his crew were in the school's kitchen preparing Christmas dinner for those who were not able to do so on their own. By 2 p.m. most of the dinners had been delivered to homebound individuals and there was still food in the warming trays to be served to others.
"We did over 700 dinners today, with most of them being delivered. People down on their luck needed our help," Sessions said. "We served real delicious food and we are thankful for everyone who made it possible to do this on Christmas day." Sessions thanked the Kimberly Clark corporation, the Rev. Lonnie Thorton and additional individual donations of both food and money that allowed the "Up All Night" Christmas dinner program to offer a variety of food for the special day. On the menu were roast turkey, ham, dressing, cranberry sauce, green beans, cakes and pies. All of the food was prepared, packed and taken to homes throughout the area by volunteers.
"We are just so thankful that we could provide Christmas dinner for so many," Sessions said. "We will see everyone next year and wish everyone a happy new year." ___ (c)2012 the LaGrange Daily News (LaGrange, Ga.)
