Dec 05, 2012 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4162 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2503 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2920 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Tuesday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Annaly Capital Management Inc (NYSE:NLY), Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL), JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:JPM), Sprint Nextel Corp (NYSE:S), Activision Blizzard Inc (NASDAQ:ATVI), Firesteel Resources Inc (NASDAQ:FTR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below: Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction NLY $-0.220 -1.50% 4,017,977 26.58% 6,071,389 40.16% -2,053,412 -93,337 AAPL $-10.480 -1.79% 9,833,101 50.02% 12,000,134 61.05% -2,167,033 -2,068 JPM $-0.240 -0.59% 5,755,265 25.07% 7,628,396 33.23% -1,873,131 -78,047 S $-0.030 -0.52% 6,584,818 23.58% 12,354,613 44.24% -5,769,795 -1,923,265 ATVI $-0.080 -0.66% 4,087,319 38.37% 6,536,536 61.37% -2,449,217 -306,152 FTR $-0.040 -0.83% 7,264,235 40.19% 10,769,330 59.58% -3,505,095 -876,274 Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows NLY down $-0.22000 with a Friction Factor of -93,337 and a Net Volume of -2,053,412. That means that it takes 93,337 more shares of selling than buying to drop NLY by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
