Cisco to Acquire Cariden Technologies
Cisco recently revealed that it intends to acquire Cariden Technologies, Inc., a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based supplier of network planning, design and traffic management solutions for telecommunications service providers.
After completing this acquisition, Cariden's capacity planning and management tools will be seamlessly integrated with Cisco's solutions, allowing providers to enhance the visibility, programmability and efficiency of their converged networks while improving service velocity. Moreover, Cisco's Open Network Environment (ONE) strategy will be boosted by Cariden's wide area networking (WAN) orchestration capabilities.
'The Cariden acquisition reinforces Cisco's commitment to offering service providers the technologies they need to optimize and monetize their networks, and ultimately grow their businesses,' said Surya Panditi, senior vice president and general manager, Cisco's Service Provider Networking Group, in

Cariden has quickly grown to be respected as the developer of the industry standard for IP/MPLS planning and traffic engineering software. A large majority of the global tier-1 ISPs rely on the company's software to ensure network reliability and performance as do PTTs, MSOs, mobile operators, and many other operators of large networks in both the public and private sectors.
In related company news, Cariden recently
its MATE portfolio that helps business extract accurate business relevant information more quickly and easily. The MATE Collector is now provided alongside a new flow interface that enables it to collect and analyze NetFlow, S-Flow and J-Flow data to determine the cost of traffic flows and monitor their use of network resources. The solution also has the ability to analyze peering traffic compliance.
