Market Maker Surveillance Report. C, GE, S, INTC, OXY, HPQ, Bearishly Biased Price Friction For Tuesday, November 20th 2012
Nov 21, 2012 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3943 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2782 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2686 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Citigroup Inc (NYSE:C), General Electric Co (NYSE:GE), Sprint Nextel Corp (NYSE:S), INTEL CORPORATION (NASDAQ:INTC), Occidental Petroleum Corp (NYSE:OXY), Hewlett-Packard Co (NYSE:HPQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below: Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction C $-0.100 -0.28% 10,916,663 29.71% 8,642,925 23.52% 2,273,738 Abnormal GE $-0.050 -0.24% 9,051,967 34.22% 7,581,609 28.67% 1,470,358 Abnormal S $-0.050 -0.84% 8,762,337 31.91% 7,583,090 27.61% 1,179,247 Abnormal INTC $-0.770 -3.80% 44,412,151 52.05% 40,606,364 47.59% 3,805,787 Abnormal OXY $-0.770 -1.02% 3,146,349 52.14% 871,357 14.44% 2,274,992 Abnormal HPQ $-1.600 -12.03% 56,311,648 36.76% 49,220,273 32.13% 7,091,375 Abnormal Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows C with 2,273,738 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.10000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
