Conroy to split up media reforms
Nov 15, 2012 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Federal Government will split its proposed media reforms. It will shortly decide whether to permanently cut licence fees for TV networks in return for the production of more Australian programs. A decision on a public interest test for media owners to prevent excessive market concentration will be postponed. The Government has decided not to establish a government-funded media watchdog, with tougher industry self-regulation of news reporting preferred.
